WELCOME TO REFLECTIONS DANCE COMPANY

Founded in 2008 and forever growing, Reflections Dance Company embraces all its members with a friendly family atmosphere, while maintaining the values of a professional environment in which participants can develop their skills.

Our teachers bring not only youth and enthusiasm to their work but also a wealth of experience, and they are always training to make sure they keep pace with all the latest trends.

Reflections carries out sessions in both education and in a variety of community settings. As well as participating in festivals such as the annual Salford Dance Explosion at the Lowry Theatre, and charity events.

Reflections Dance Company boasts its modern, purpose built facilities catering for every dancer’s needs. With a sprung floor, full length mirrors and ballet barre helping to develop and improve upon children’s dance ability which is of great importance, whilst in a safe and welcoming environment.

THE DIRECTORS

Laura Holland

Laura started dancing when she was only four years old and since then she has covered a wide variety of dance styles from ballet to tap and from jazz to contemporary. Although dancing was at first just a hobby, she always pushed herself to improve her skills, taking exams with various exam boards including R.A.D and I.D.T.A. Her education in dance culminated in the successful completion of her BA (honours) Degree in Dance with Community and Education at Liverpool John Moores University. Before Reflections, Laura worked for the outreach team at Jumpstart Dance Company, which lead to working in community dance for the local authority for the dance department and school sports team. She has recently gained teaching qualifications in both I.D.T.A ballet and tap and the children can now gain accreditaion for dance by taking IDTA exams. Laura also brings to her role further qualifications in Cheerleading, First Aid, Safe-Guarding Young Children and Conflict Management.

Lyndsey Bailey

Lyndsey has been dancing since the age of ten and she has also experienced a variety of dance styles. She trained at the prestigious Sylvia Young Theatre School and Laine theatre arts, graduating with a Trinity Diploma in Dance and Musical Theatre. She did many dance exams in ballet, tap, modern and freestyle with the I.S.T.D and U.K.A. As well as doing commercial dance work, Lyndsey has performed professionally in many shows in the westend, and most recently she travelled the world with leading cruise liner 'Carnival', before pursuing her teaching career. Along side her dancing she has studied fitness with extra qualifications to become a zumba and kettlercise instructor.

MEET THE TEAM

Sara Ellis - Cheerleading

Sara has 10 years experience as both a cheerleader and dancer. As part of a local club in Salford, she was part of a competitive dance team which saw her travel the world competing in the European and World Championships in Pom dance division.

Sara also coached at the same club for over 6 years, teaching Pom dance as well as cheerleading skills including stunting and tumbling. She also coached and choreographed routines for the competitive teams in both cheerleading and Pom dance.

The children love Sara and her challenging yet enjoyable sessions and we are amazed at what the children an achieve in a short space of time.

Lauren Odgen - Street Dance

Lauren graduated from Shockout Arts with a BA Honours degree in Professional and Commercial Dance. SHe has trained in Ballet, Jazz and contemporary. She is currently studying for her PGCE teaching qualification. She has been delivering classes and workshops throughout the country for a number of years. Recently, Lauren has travelled to America to further her training, concentrating on Commerical street and contemporary.

Other highlights include; performing in the LA Carnival in Los Angeles, performing at the World of Dance in Germany, starring in Got to Dance on Channel 4, mentored by Ashley Banjo from Diversity.

Alice Youd - Contemporary

Alice has danced since being two years old. I began studying dance full time at Pendleton college where I then furthered my studies at Middlesex University London, gaining an upper second class honours degree in dance performance.

Over the years, Alice has trained in all 5 major contemporary techniques. Eventually, she began focussing specifically on choreography, in which she has created collaborative dance pieces with Wimbledon college of arts.

Throughout my years of performing she has performed on various west end stages such as; Her Majesty’s Theatre, Saddlers Wells, and the Royal Albert Hall.

Alice is very motivated to pass on her own knowledge and passion that she has gained over the past 21 years. Dance is her first and foremost main passion in life.

Jennie Chadwick - Gymnastics

Jennie has been coaching gymnastics for 18 years. Originally from London and moved to Manchester when 18 to attend University, Jennie completed her degree in Sports Science. She then started work as an Assistant Gymnastics Development Officer in Salford. She spent 10 years in that position and then decided to become a freelance Gymnastics and Trampolining coach. Jennie loves coaching and is super passionate about sport and getting children involved.

TEACHING ASSISTANTS

Olivia Hughes

Olivia started dancing when she was two years old, starting off with ballet and tap. She then joined Reflections at the very start, back in 2008 where she joined street dance, contemporary and jazz classes. She is currently working on her vocational qualifications in Ballet and working towards gold bar two in street. At collage she is studying A-Level PE, specialising in Dance. Her main ambition is to own a successful dance school.

Aisha Clare Whelan

Aisha already has 14 years dance experience as she started dancing at the age of two. she has most experience in street and contemporary, however recently has started ballet again. Aisha is studying BTEC dance at college. She feels this will help to succeed in her dream job, as a background dancer in music videos/ live performance. Most importantly she loves to dance because she finds it extremely fun to choreograph her own dances to teach to the children and developing her own skills and knowledge.

Isabel Cropper

Isabel has danced since the age of 6 and joined Reflections Dance Company in 2010. She started with cheerleading and jazz and progressed through the years to now include ballet, tap, contemporary and street. She has taken exams in ballet, tap and street. Now, she is working towards her vocational qualifications- Intermediate in ballet and Gold Bar 1 in street. Isabel is currently taking dance at GCSE and would love to continue with her dance studies at college and university. Her ambition is to teach dance and run her own dance school.
